Fees and Exchange Rates

1. What you pay

Every quote shows the amount you send, the transfer fee, any tax we collect, the total you pay, the exchange rate, and the amount your recipient gets. The quote in the pre-payment disclosure is what you pay. Fees never change after you pay.

2. Transfer fees

Our fee depends on the destination country, the delivery method and the amount. Current fees:

DestinationDelivery methodFee
JamaicaBank depositfee
JamaicaMobile wallet (e.g. Lynk)fee
JamaicaCash pickupfee
Other corridorsmethodfee

We do not charge fees to receive money, to cancel within the cancellation period, or to resolve an error.

3. How we set exchange rates

Our exchange rate includes a margin above the rate at which our Partner buys currency. That margin is part of how we earn money. The rate shown in your pre-payment disclosure is fixed once you pay and will not change, even if markets move.

4. What Speedy earns on a transfer

Example (illustration only, not a current price): You send $200.00 to Jamaica with a $2.99 fee at 156.40 JMD per dollar, and your recipient gets J$31,280.00. If the mid-market rate at the time were 158.05 JMD per dollar, the exchange rate margin would be worth about $2.09, so Speedy and its Partner would earn about $5.08 in total.

Planned: the app will show this calculation on every quote, using a named and time-stamped mid-market rate source.

5. Fees and taxes charged by others

Your recipient may receive less because of fees charged by their bank or wallet provider and foreign taxes. Where we know about these fees and taxes, we include them in the pre-payment disclosure. Where we cannot know them, we tell you that the recipient may receive less.

6. Card funding

Where card funding is available, we accept only U.S.-issued debit cards. We do not add a fee for paying by debit card. Confirm.

7. Promotions and fee waivers

From time to time we may waive or reduce fees, for example for a first transfer or during a natural disaster in a country we serve. Any waiver appears in the pre-payment disclosure and the terms of the promotion state when it ends.
